Quincy construction has begun and the Artisan crew has wasted no time. With concrete work beginning this week, construction is likely to be completed by July. This soon to be 10,000 sq.ft. custom Skatepark is an upgrade from their original above-ground park. By working with the City and implementing in-kind donations, we were able to meet the tight budget provided.

SKATEPARK OPENING: PHASE II - SALISBURY SKATEPARK
What could be better than another Pillar Artisan Skatepark in the ground, that park completing Phase II of a three-phased master plan. Salisbury has now completed two of three phases planned for the Salisbury Skatepark. We could not be more proud to be apart of this amazing project and group of individuals. After years of grant submissions and perseverance, Salisbury became home to a custom Skatepark in 2015 - but the City didn't want to create just any kind of Skatepark, they wanted a world-class, Skatepark. Designed in Phases the Salisbury Skatepark when completed will be 13,000 sq.ft. of Skatepark heaven.
Phase II now open to public!

SKATEPARK OPENING: IMPERIAL, NEBRASKA
Imperial Skatepark has been opened for less than a month and has already been coined the most popular recreational facility of the City. Lead by a dedicated group of 10 to 12 year olds, Team Hot Wheels, the Imperial Skatepark is a great example of what can be accomplished with a little hard work and determination. After a few false starts and being told they could not afford concrete Imperial - Nebraska is now home to a 5,000 sq. ft. custom Skatepark.
We want to give a big shout out to Artisan Skateparks, our build partner on this project. The crew were not only professional and respectful but truly became a part of the local community. They went above and beyond during construction, mentoring the young skaters, explaining the construction process and giving them the opportunity to help with construction. The Skatepark is located in Campbell Park on on West 6th St. in Imperial, Nebraska.

SALISBURY SKATEPARK II IS UNDERWAY
Salisbury Skatepark has received their second round of funding through DNR and the City wasted no time moving forward with Phase II. Designed in Phases, the masterplan divided the park into three manageable sections that allowed for fundraising efforts to continue while users and local residents could enjoy a finished product.
Phase I included an 8' deep bowl with pool coping and tile, as well as a back and fourth street section. During Phase I our design team also handled all necessary stormwater management and overall cost estimating. Streamlining the design process and allowing Phase II and III to be about design aspects of the park.
Phase II will be an additional 4,500 sq. ft. The original masterplan, shows Phase II as mostly street - complimenting Phase I of the Skatepark but of course the final design will take into account the local Skaters request. A public meeting to discuss Phase II design elements is set for January 18th from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at the City Center Building - Atrium Area on Main Street. We encourage local skaters to attend the meeting and give their input on the design.
Phase I was completed and opened December 2015. Phase II set to be completed this summer. Phase 3 will follow, to complete the Skatepark Masterplan layout.
Skatepark hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to dusk.

JUST A FEW REASONS WHY YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS A SKATEPARK
#1 – Skateboarding is the 3rd most popular recreational activity for kids between 6 to 18 years of age. While team sports participation has consistently declined, skateboarding has millions of participants. Yet, most communities do not have a dedicated space for Skateboarders.
#2 – Skateboarding is a healthy, physical activity that anyone can enjoy. Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years in the U.S, with more than one third of children and adolescents being overweight or obese.
#3 - Skateparks provide a safe and legal place for Skateboarders to practice their sport. Statistics show that the majority of deadly skateboarding accidents involve a motor vehicle. Offering diverse terrain and a quality Skatepark means less Skateboarders on your streets, at your local businesses, parking lots and sidewalks.
#4 – Skateparks can provide great revenue opportunities for their communities. A destination style Skatepark attracts skaters from all over the United States, which in turns means increase in lodging, shopping, meals as well as other local recreational activities. Remember typically, it’s not just the skater coming to the area but an entire family. Depending on the Skatepark design and size, there is also opportunity to hold events, competitions, etc. drawing even bigger crowds.
#5 – Skateparks bring communities together. They are a social gathering place offering its users the opportunity to meet with other community members with similar interests. We often see entire families at the Skatepark, some users and some just enjoying the show. It is common for young skateboarders to volunteer for Skatepark cleanup and take ownership of the space.
If your City does not have a Skatepark than we can promise you it is the Skatepark.
